Here is this Grand Seiko Elegance Collection Automatic GMT, reference SBGM221 (9S66-00A0). A timepiece combining Grand Seiko’s characteristic classical elegance with a highly practical GMT complication, presented in a beautifully proportioned case.

Its 39.5 mm stainless-steel case showcases Grand Seiko’s superb finishing, including surfaces polished using the Zaratsu technique. It houses an elegant warm ivory-cream dial featuring applied and highly polished baton hour markers. The beautifully finished dauphine hour and minute hands are complemented by a slender central seconds hand, while a date window is positioned at 3 o’clock.

The GMT function is indicated by a striking tempered blue hand, which points towards the Arabic numeral 24-hour scale positioned inside the hour markers. This allows a second time zone to be followed simultaneously while preserving the beautifully balanced and highly legible appearance of the dial.

The watch is powered by the Grand Seiko manufacture Calibre 9S66, an automatic mechanical movement with manual-winding capability. Operating at 28,800 vibrations per hour, it features 35 jewels and provides a generous power reserve of approximately 72 hours. The exhibition caseback also allows the movement and its finishing to be admired.

This example is fitted with a blue Saffiano leather strap and its original Grand Seiko folding clasp. The watch is also accompanied by its original box and certificate.
