Revue Thommen - Cricket 1947 Alarm Manual Winding Vintage Full Set Circa 2000 Ref. 8010002
Here is this Revue Thommen Cricket 1947 Alarm, reference 8010002, dating from around 2000. It follows the design of the famous Cricket alarm watch, originally introduced by Vulcain in 1947, featuring its mechanical alarm complication.
The Cricket is particularly known for its connection with American presidents, several of whom have received one since Harry Truman, earning it the nickname “President's Watch”. A Cricket was also presented to Mikhail Gorbachev, the former leader of the Soviet Union.
Its 35 mm stainless-steel case features elegant lyre-shaped lugs and two crowns used to set the time and operate the alarm function. The silver-toned dial has a circular-brushed centre surrounded by a detailed minute track. It features applied faceted hour markers, a Roman numeral XII at 12 o'clock and two main hands with luminous material. An additional hand with a triangular tip is used to set the alarm time, while a slim central seconds hand completes the display. The “Cricket” inscription is positioned at 6 o'clock.
The watch is powered by the manually wound Revue Thommen RT80 movement, based on the Vulcain Cricket calibre 120. It features 17 jewels, operates at 18,000 vibrations per hour and provides approximately 42 hours of power reserve. The movement uses two independent barrels, one for the watch's timekeeping and the other for its mechanical alarm.
It is fitted with its original calfskin leather strap and original Revue Thommen-signed pin buckle.
The watch comes as a Full Set with its original box and papers, although the papers are unsigned. It also comes with our 6-month warranty.
