Universal Genève - Gilt Shadow Ellipse Automatic Micro-Rotor Vintage Gold Plated Circa 1975 Ref. 566051
Here is this Universal Genève Gilt Shadow, reference 566051, dating from around 1975. An elegant vintage timepiece featuring a particularly refined and minimalist design, with an elliptical case reminiscent of the famous Patek Philippe Ellipse creations. It is also distinguished by its remarkably slim profile, made possible by its automatic micro-rotor movement.
Its 31 mm gold-plated case features an elliptical shape with soft, rounded lines. The matte black dial provides a beautiful contrast against the gold-toned elements. It is complemented by slender applied baton hour markers and two elegant gold-toned dauphine hands, whose polished surfaces create attractive reflections depending on the viewing angle. The Universal Genève “Fat U” logo is positioned at 12 o'clock, together with the manufacturer's signature, while the “Gilt Shadow Automatic” inscription appears at 6 o'clock. The dial is particularly well preserved, with all inscriptions remaining clearly legible.
The watch is powered by the Universal Genève calibre 2-66 automatic movement, featuring a micro-rotor. This construction provides the benefits of automatic winding while significantly reducing the thickness of the movement, contributing to the distinctive slim profile of the Shadow collection. It features 25 jewels, operates at a frequency of 19,800 vibrations per hour and offers a power reserve of approximately 46 hours.
The watch retains its original crown and gold-plated Milanese mesh bracelet, seamlessly integrated into the case. The bracelet is fitted with its original clasp, signed with the Universal Genève “Fat U” logo, and can be adjusted to accommodate different wrist sizes.
This Universal Genève is presented in a superb state of preservation, particularly remarkable for a watch of this period.
The watch comes with our 6-month warranty.
