Omega - Seamaster "Soccer Time" Chronograph Cal. 861 Circa 1968 Ref. 145.016

Here is this Omega Seamaster “Soccer Time” Chronograph, reference 145.016, dating from around 1968. A particularly distinctive vintage chronograph from the late 1960s, this example comes directly from its first owner.

Its 38 mm stainless-steel cushion-shaped case houses a superb light-coloured dial whose highly distinctive and colourful configuration gave the watch its “Soccer Timer” nickname. The chronograph minute counter at 3 o’clock allows elapsed time to be measured up to 45 minutes, precisely corresponding to the length of one half of a football match. Its red and black sectors make the elapsed time particularly easy to read while giving this Seamaster its instantly recognisable sporting character.

The dial is completed by running seconds at 9 o’clock, an hour totaliser at 6 o’clock also highlighted by red and black sectors, and a striking orange central chronograph seconds hand providing a particularly attractive contrast. The watch is now fitted with a new signed Omega plexiglass crystal.

It is powered by the renowned manually wound Omega calibre 861, featuring 17 jewels, operating at 21,600 vph and offering approximately 40 hours of power reserve. This calibre is notably known for also powering Omega Speedmaster models of the same period. The movement will be regulated as closely as possible to achieve the best possible timekeeping performance considering its age.

It comes fitted with its signed Omega stainless-steel bracelet, suitable for a wrist up to approximately 17 cm.
