Universal Genève - Kanji Dial Dress Watch Ultra-Thin Gold Plated Circa 1973 Ref. 542101
Here is this Universal Genève Kanji Dial Dress Watch, reference 542101, dating from around 1973. A particularly distinctive dress watch from the Geneva manufacture, characterised by its unusual dial and the exceptionally slim proportions of its case.
Its 31 mm gold-plated stainless-steel case houses a beautiful gold-tone dial with a vertical brushed finish. Its defining feature is undoubtedly the set of black Kanji character hour markers arranged around the dial, giving this Universal Genève a rare and instantly recognisable aesthetic. Two elegant black hands display the hours and minutes, while the Universal Genève logo with its characteristic “Fat U” is positioned at 12 o’clock.
The watch is presented in beautiful condition. Its gold-plated case is particularly well preserved, as is its original signed Universal Genève crown. The stainless-steel caseback also remains in excellent condition, with both the reference and serial numbers still clearly visible.
It is powered by the manually wound Universal Genève calibre 2-42, an ultra-thin movement featuring 17 jewels, operating at 21,600 vph and offering approximately 43 hours of power reserve. This particularly slim movement directly contributes to the elegant and discreet profile of the watch. The movement will be regulated as closely as possible to achieve the best possible timekeeping performance considering its age.
It is fitted with a beige leather strap and its original signed Universal Genève gold-plated buckle.
It comes with our 6-month warranty.
